The Los Angeles Dodgers fell 7-2 to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday (Mother’s Day in Japan) at Dodger Stadium, suffering their second consecutive defeat. Shohei Ohtani, batting leadoff as the designated hitter, went 0-for-4, extending his home run drought to 10 games (46 plate appearances).
In his first at-bat of the game, Ohtani used a pink bat in honor of Mother’s Day but struck out swinging on a full count against right-hander Bryce Elder. After switching back to his usual black bat for his second at-bat in the third inning, he lined out to second base. Ohtani then flied out to center in the sixth and grounded out to first in the seventh with two runners on base.
The Dodgers managed only two runs in the eighth inning, while the Braves scored four in the second and added one in the eighth and two in the ninth. Ohtani’s last home run came on April 22.
