Cristiano Ronaldo’s hopes of wrapping up the Saudi Pro League title were dashed in dramatic fashion as Al-Nassr were held to a 1-1 draw by Al-Hilal in the Riyadh derby on Wednesday.
A victory would have secured the championship for Al-Nassr with one game to spare, but a stoppage-time equalizer from Al-Hilal – courtesy of a costly mistake by goalkeeper Bento – extended the battle to the final matchday. 
Ronaldo, who was substituted in the 82nd minute, could only watch from the bench as his side surrendered the lead. After the final whistle, television cameras captured the 40-year-old star sitting motionless on the substitutes’ bench, his head bowed and face buried in his hands, visibly devastated.
Al-Nassr had taken the lead through Mohamed Simakan in the first half and appeared set for victory. However, deep into added time, Bento’s error allowed Al-Hilal to snatch a point, leaving the title race alive until the last round. 
For Ronaldo, who has won league titles in England, Spain, and Italy, the frustration was clear. Al-Nassr now must win their final match to secure their first Saudi Pro League crown since 2019.
