Wallace Neguerê, a presenter at SBT, was the third guest in Lance!’s “World Cup Voices” series, which offers behind-the-scenes insights into the 2026 World Cup coverage. He will host a program on SBT and also be part of N Sports’ coverage of the tournament. In the interview, Neguerê expressed his belief that Brazil will secure a sixth World Cup title and strongly championed Rayan’s inclusion in the national team.
Brazil’s last World Cup triumph was in 2002. If they fail to win in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, it would mark the country’s longest trophy drought in the competition. Neguerê is confident that Carlo Ancelotti will prevent this negative outcome in 2026.
“When it comes to the Brazilian national team, I’m a fan… I believe Brazil will have that spark of success and bring the trophy home. Our people breathe this. We need to win the easy games and then fight for the rest,” Neguerê told Lance!.
**Rayan Deserves a Spot in Ancelotti’s Squad**
The injury that sidelined Estêvão from the World Cup has opened up a spot on the right wing for Brazil, and Rayan stands out as a prime candidate to fill the gap. For Neguerê, the Bournemouth attacker should be called up by Carlo Ancelotti.
“Rayan has nothing left to prove; he has already proven himself. He arrives in England, becomes a starter, and elevates the team’s level with decisive goals. At Vasco, at that age, he was already a protagonist in the Brazilian Championship, which I consider the toughest league in the world,” the presenter stated.
A devoted Vasco fan, Neguerê has closely followed Rayan’s journey from a youth academy gem to a key player in the Copa do Brasil final team. He praised the young player’s character.
“I know Rayan and his family. He’s a good kid, calm, well-mannered, a team player, won’t cause issues in the locker room. If given the chance in any World Cup match, if you let him get the ball and cut inside, you can count on a goal. He’s fearless! He’s the right choice to go,” Neguerê added. **Does Neymar Have a Place?**
On Monday (May 18), Carlo Ancelotti will release Brazil’s final squad for the World Cup. Neymar, the Santos and global football star, has been pre-convoked but is uncertain to be among the 26 players donning the yellow jersey.
In the “World Cup Voices” series, Neguerê pointed out that Neymar’s presence could be crucial both on and off the pitch.
“Having Neymar on the field in a World Cup makes other teams see you differently. They’ll think, ‘It’s Neymar, man; if I leave him free, he’ll find a pass, he’ll create a big chance,'” Neguerê began.
“But you can’t use Santos as a benchmark. Santos doesn’t function well. They’ve only recently fixed their defense. So if Neymar accepts being a substitute at times, embraces leadership, becomes the lightning rod for problems, and delivers his quality when on the pitch, then he should go. If he’s physically fit, he automatically convokes himself,” the presenter concluded. (Photo: Vitor Silva / CBF)
In addition to Neguerê, Mauro Beting and Galvão Bueno have also spoken with Lance! about the 2026 World Cup. All details are available on Lance!’s YouTube channel.
